Text Structure

Est 2:1-4

The search for a new queen. After Vashti’s removal, the search begins for young women to join the royal palace, setting the stage for decisive events to unfold.

Est 2:5-11

Esther’s story. Esther, raised by Mordecai, demonstrates humility and obedience while receiving care and guidance throughout her preparation.

Est 2:12-18

The selection of Esther. After the period of preparation, Esther wins the admiration of everyone and is crowned queen, taking a strategic position.

Est 2:19-23

Mordecai’s faithfulness. Mordecai uncovers a conspiracy against the king and reports it, recording an act of loyalty that would be remembered at the right time.
