Text Structure
Ed 3:1-3
The return to worship. The people gather and restore the altar, placing worship of God once again at the center of community life.
Ed 3:4-6
The initial celebration. Festivals are held and sacrifices offered, marking a spiritual new beginning after the exile.
Ed 3:7-13
The opposition and emotion. The foundation of the temple is laid, bringing both joy and sadness among those who remembered the former temple.
Ed 6:14-15
The completion of the work. The temple is finally finished, fulfilling the decree and confirming God’s faithfulness throughout the process.

Reflection
Ezra shows that spiritual rebuilding begins when worship returns to its central place in the life of the people.
