2 Kgs 2:1-6

Elijah’s final journey. Elijah travels through several locations accompanied by Elisha, who remains faithfully by his side, demonstrating unwavering commitment to the very end.

2 Kgs 2:7-12

Elijah’s departure. Elijah is taken up into heaven, and Elisha witnesses the event, marking a significant transition in God’s work.

2 Kgs 2:13-15

The continuation through Elisha. Elisha takes up Elijah’s mantle, demonstrating that God’s presence and power continue with him.

2 Kgs 2:16-18

Searching without understanding. Others insist on looking for Elijah, revealing their difficulty in accepting and understanding the transition that has taken place.

2 Kgs 2:19-22

The first intervention. Elisha heals the waters, demonstrating God’s authority and activity through his ministry.

2 Kgs 2:23-25

Respect for God’s calling. The final episode highlights the importance of recognizing and respecting spiritual authority.
