Text Structure
2Sa 6:1-5
The initiative of David. David gathers the people and begins transporting the ark with celebration, showing enthusiasm and a desire to honor God’s presence in Israel.
2Sa 6:6-7
The fatal mistake. Uzzah touches the ark to steady it and dies immediately, revealing that God’s presence requires reverence and obedience to the established instructions.
2Sa 6:8-11
The interruption and reflection. David becomes distressed and decides not to proceed at that moment, leaving the ark in the house of Obed-Edom, where there is blessing.
2Sa 6:12-15
The proper resumption. Upon hearing about the blessings, David resumes the transport, now following the correct method and celebrating with reverence and joy.
2Sa 6:16-19
The public celebration. David celebrates intensely before the Lord, expressing genuine joy and leading the people in worship.
2Sa 6:20-23
Michal’s reaction. Michal criticizes David’s behavior, showing contempt, while David reaffirms his willingness to honor God above human opinions.

Reflection
2 Samuel 6 shows that good intentions do not replace obedience. David wanted to do the right thing, but initially ignored the established way.
