2Sam 5:1-5
The anointing as king. The tribes of Israel recognize David as leader and anoint him king, consolidating his authority and marking the beginning of a new period for the nation.
2Sam 5:6-10
The conquest of Jerusalem. David captures the city of Jerusalem, establishing it as the capital, strengthening his position and centralizing the government.
2Sam 5:11-12
The confirmation of the kingdom. David receives external support and recognizes that God had established his reign, understanding that his position came from the Lord.
2Sam 5:13-16
The growth of the royal house. David expands his family and strengthens his presence as king, consolidating his position.
2Sam 5:17-21
The first victory over the Philistines. David consults God before acting and wins the battle, demonstrating dependence on divine guidance.
2Sam 5:22-25
The second strategic guidance. David again seeks God’s direction and follows a different strategy, achieving another victory.

Reflection
2 Samuel 5 shows that true success is connected to God’s guidance. David did not rely only on his experience but sought direction.
The repetition of seeking counsel reveals continuous dependence. Even after victories, David did not stop seeking divine guidance.
