Text Structure
1Sm 24:1-3
The unexpected opportunity. Saul enters the cave where David was hiding, creating a situation in which David could act against his pursuer without being seen.
1Sm 24:4-7
David’s decision. Encouraged by his men, David approaches but only cuts off a piece of Saul’s robe, refusing to take his life and demonstrating respect.
1Sm 24:8-15
The declaration of innocence. David reveals himself to Saul and explains his attitude, showing that he does not wish harm, trusting that God is the one who judges.

Reflection
