Text Structure

1Sm 9:1-5

The search for the donkeys. Saul sets out on a simple mission to find lost animals, not realizing that this ordinary journey was part of something much greater prepared by God.

1Sm 9:6-10

The decision to seek guidance. The servant suggests seeking the man of God, showing openness to spiritual direction even in everyday situations.

1Sm 9:11-17

The providential encounter. God had already revealed Saul’s arrival to Samuel, showing that the meeting was not a coincidence, but part of a plan.

1Sm 9:18-21

The surprise of Saul. When speaking with Samuel, Saul discovers that his search had another purpose, leaving him surprised by what was happening.

1Sm 9:22-24

The unexpected honor. Samuel offers Saul a place of honor, anticipating something he did not yet fully understand.

1Sm 9:25-27

The final preparation. Samuel speaks privately with Saul, preparing the way for what would be revealed next.
