Josh 7:1
The hidden transgression. Achan disobeys God’s command and takes what was forbidden, introducing sin among the people without everyone knowing.
Josh 7:2-5
The defeat at Ai. Israel underestimates the city and suffers an unexpected defeat, revealing that something was spiritually wrong.
Josh 7:6-9
The reaction of Joshua. Faced with defeat, Joshua falls prostrate and questions the situation, showing anguish and a search for understanding.
Josh 7:10-15

Reflection
Joshua 7 shows that hidden sin has a collective impact. The error of one brought consequences to the whole people, revealing the seriousness of disobedience.
The unexpected defeat teaches that the problem is not always external. Sometimes difficulty reveals something internal that needs to be addressed.
As presented in Patriarchs and Prophets, chapter 45, God does not ignore sin, because His holiness requires justice and restoration.
This passage teaches that transparency is essential before God. What is hidden must be dealt with so that the path can be restored.
