Reflection
Numbers 21 shows that constant murmuring distances the heart from God and brings consequences. Repeated dissatisfaction reveals difficulty in trusting divine care.
God’s solution seems simple, but it requires faith. Looking at the bronze serpent did not make human sense, but it was an act of trust in God’s word.
As presented in Patriarchs and Prophets, chapter 38, the healing was not in the object, but in faith in God. He established the means, and the response depended on trust.
