Reflection

Exodus 19 reveals that a relationship with God involves both closeness and reverence. He desires a people who are near, but also prepared for His holiness.

The preparation of the people shows that encountering God is not something ordinary or casual. There is a call to consecration and a willingness to obey.

As presented in Patriarchs and Prophets, chapter 27, Sinai was not just an event, but a spiritual milestone that defined the identity of the people before God.
